My toshiba tv has sound but no picture

When I hooked up my VCR using only coax, I screwed up and connected the ins + outs wrong. This caused the channel pass through to work correctly from the wall jack with the VCR off but when I projected a picture from the VCR (programming it or video tape or cable channels through the VCR) it gave sound but no picture.My parents have a Philips 30PF9946/12 LCD TV which has stopped showing a picture. When it's switched on, the backlight comes on for a moment but then goes off again. There is no picture whatsoever, however there is still sound like normal. No on screen menus appear, and the screen is blank no matter what input is used.

May 08, 2012 路 Some time it is the power being supplied to the backlight, but when you have the picture to start with it tends to be the LCD portion not the power. If the picture only goes out and the screen is a gray tint not black like the TV is off then the problem could be the main video processing board. This is an uncommon issue.
